Kika Superwitch

We have chosen the book “Kika Superwitch Trouble at school”, to work with the students of fifth grade.


Firstly, we are going to carry out a previous activity before starting to read the book in order to contextualize and motivate the students. For this reason the teacher is going to invent a spell so that the students get involved in this activity. Consequently, we will try to arouse their curiosity so that they feel the pleasure of reading it.


Secondly, once we have finished the previous activity, we go on with the oral reading of the first chapter in class. (*Make sure the students are paying attention to the reading by asking some students to continue reading the passage). In the third place, the students must read a chapter for homework individually every week. On Friday we are going to have a chat to compare their opinions about this episode. Next, we are going to have a competition with questions related to the weekly chapter. They could be about the characters, the story, and the Kika’s object… They must organize in groups work together and accumulate points. After reading of the last episode the teacher is going to add the total pints obtained to prove which group is the winner. The winners will are going to receive a magic wand.


ITC: The last activity is elaborated with the “Movie Maker”.

In this section the students must create a video with the help of the IT program called “Movie Maker”. They will try to make an advertisement related to the book as if they were the authors of the book. Therefore, the students must use their imagination and creativity in order to attract the possible readers’ attention and make them want to read the book.
